As the title says, a little short. Otherwise the writing and storytelling was on par with what Selkie usually writes.
The pacing slower than usual and from what I’ve gathered resembling an immortals perspective on time. Flickering in and out through the decades, centuries maybe at some point millennia?

Still, I’m hooked for the next part. Damn cliffhangers…

I really like and enjoy the series but this book was very disappointing. A handful of short stories with no real red thread or consequences.

This book is a collection of pointless mini stories. No character development. No plot that changes anything.

The part of the book that bothers me most is the trip to the moon. I have no idea why the characters just decided to go to the moon. That came out of nowhere. I went through most of the book sitting there asking, "ok... but why?"

If you try to explain the mechanics of your trip to space with science, you should at least try to understand how the basics works.
For example, you do not have to accelerate for the entire journey to the moon. Once you are outside the atmosphere, all you have to do is accelerate to the east or west (inclination correction counted in ofc) at the right time and reach a high enough orbit. Our space ships do that with a burn measured in seconds, not days.
Also, when you are in between the moon and the planet, your planet should not be a small dot, comparable to a star. It has to be at least as large as the moon. Otherwise the planet you have lived on has been a moon all along by definition.

I have no problem with the outright magical aspects of the trip. Magical wings can fly in space? No problem. It's fantasy. But don't tell me 2+2=3.1415 without giving me an explanation just to sound clever.

Eines der schwächsten (Hör)-Bücher in der Reihe. Die Story ist irrelevant, wenig passiert und was passiert ist absurd und unpassend im Gesamtkontext der Reihe.
Insgesamt wirkt der Teil wie eine Nebenstory die aber irgendwie nicht zusammenpasst.
Außerdem ist an jeder Ecke verschenktes Potential. viele Storystränge werden nicht konsequent zuende geführt. Stattdessen werden diese bis zum Höhepunkt verfolgt und dann aus irgendeinem Grund per Timeskip beendet, statt sie befriedigend oder Zumindest in wenigen Sätzen zum Schluss zu führen.

Auch sehr schade ist der billige Abklatsch amerikanischer Reden zu der realen Mondlaung. Statt eigene coole Zitate und Reden zu erfinden wurde billig abgekupfert und Sprüche wie 'We choose to go to the Moon... not because it is easy, but because it is hard' oder der berühmte 'kleine Schritt für einen menschen, großer Schritt für die Menschheit' sind einfach 1 zu 1 eingebaut. Das ist enttäuschend und für einen beruflichen Autor irgendwie erbärmlich. Zumal es nicht nur Elaine ist, die ja storytechnisch erklärbar durch ebendiese Reden beeinflusst sein könnte.

Hoffen wir auf die nächsten Teile.
