    Inhaltsangabe

World-renowned Stanford University psychologist Carol Dweck, in decades of research on achievement and success, has discovered a truly groundbreaking idea - the power of our mindset.

Dweck explains why it's not just our abilities and talent that bring us success but whether we approach them with a fixed or growth mindset. She makes clear why praising intelligence and ability doesn't foster self-esteem and lead to accomplishment but may actually jeopardise success. With the right mindset, we can motivate our kids and help them to raise their grades as well as reach our own goals - personal and professional. Dweck reveals what all great parents, teachers, CEOs and athletes already know: how a simple idea about the brain can create a love of learning and a resilience that is the basis of great accomplishment in every area.

    Very repetitive

If you’ve heard the first chapter, you’ve heard it all. Very “fixed mindset” to categorize all people into 2 groups...

    What A Game Changer!

This is an extremely powerful and mindset changing concept.
Replacing your fixed mindset with a growth mindset enables you to easily see and accept your shortcomings without getting emotionally involved or attached to them.

You see your shortcomings for what they are. Temporary. They don't define you but are simply a representation of the amount of effort - or rather the lack thereof - you have put into fixing them thus far.

If you want to improve yourself, you can!
You are likely going to struggle to do so but precisely in going through that struggle and overcoming it is where that growth of yourself occurs and that growth is permanent. By going through that struggle you are now more than you were before, better than you were before, more capable than you were before.

Adapting a growth mindset is incredibly uplifting and empowering. It makes you realize how incredibly capable you are of helping yourself.

    Repetitive

The basic principle presented (fixed vs. growth mindest) is good and it was somewhat a eye-opener to me, but after around 1 hour of listening the book gets very, very, very repetitive.
It is basically the same story over and over again in every chapter (person X has fixed mindset vs. person Y has growth mindset and both did this and that). The only thing that changes over the chapters are the areas where those people were in (e.g. one chapter is about students and one chapter is about businessman). After one hour of listening you basically have internalized the basic idea of the growth mindest.
Also there are no clear recommendations for action or similar detailed explanation why one could slip into the one or other mindset and how to get out of it.
On top of it it is read by a very monotonic reader, very exhausting to listen to.

I think about of returning it, if it is possible.

    Can not recommend it.

    There's already positive change

I love this book. It's really helping me to better understand myself and others, to respect that and I am starting to have a growth mindset and realizing faster when I get into the fixed mindset. I look forward to see all the great things I can achieve now that I have this additional tool in my life.

Very superficial, not much actionable advice

Keeps very much on the surface of a single long known statement about static and dynamic views. Not a lot of depth in terms of concrete ways to approach things differently. Compared to other works on the topic of mindset pretty weak

A must read for parents and teachers

Many years ago, as I was in Highschool, a teacher tought me about the importance of growing. Not of being the best, not of comparing myself with others. But of being each day a bit better and relying on hard work and passion for what I did, instead of "native talent". In retrospect, this is one of the best peices of advice I ever received.

If you have children or if you are a teacher, do them a favor: read (or listen) to this book and internalize the content. Then try hard to put it into practice. The same applies if you're a manager, working close with your employees. Sooner or later, they will thank you for it, like I do now with my former teacher.

    Changed my view

It teaches me how to give praise and feedback in a way which inspires growth instead of just boosting self esteem. And, taking praise cautiously and being hungry for criticism. Great help in this world full of grades, valuation and points...
