Über diesen Titel

Evangeline Phillips isn’t exactly a Grinch, but being estranged from her parents means Christmas is just another day for her. But when Evie meets her new neighbor—her hot, kind, and blessed-with-the-sexiest-accent-Evie-has-ever-heard neighbor—she thinks it might be just the thing to help her get past the holiday season.

Annika Mayer isn’t really running away. But when there’s a job opening in the United States, it seems like the perfect time to leave Germany and start fresh, even if it’s only temporary. It’s just a pity that she’s missing out on the most important holiday: Christmas with her family. Fortunately, Annika’s cute new neighbor is exactly the distraction she needs.

As their friendship and flirtation builds, Evie and Annika decide on an American-German Christmas mesh-up—they’ll share their Christmas traditions and make it through the season together. And as they plan their “Merry Weihnachten,” that flirtation starts to build into something more. But with so much standing between them and forever, Evie and Annika realize they might not get their gift-wrapped happy ending after all.

As a german I will give all american gal's a good advice: If anybody from Germany calls you Schnucki... run and don't look back!!! :-) I was laughing so hard when I heard Abby Craden saying that word for the first time... I had quite an awkward moment while wearing my headphones. Thanks Abby for this funny Monent and the Effort you put in this accent for the ENTIRE BOOK! To be honest at times it was a little much but the listener will get used to it after a while.

E.J. Noyes has written a very well researched, funny and cute Story with some very pleasant spice in it. Thank u for not putting to many german stereotypes in this. That's very appreciated. Well done to the whole Team!

To potential listeners: This is a clear recommendation. Buy it an hear it every year for Christmas. Happy holidays all together

Schnucki???? :-)

Agian E.J. gave us a wonderful Book about love and how to make it work.
Maybe some word choices of german were odd.
Schnucki is a word mostly used to make fun of someone 😂
But all in all it was a nice one!
Respect to Abby Craden who managed a decent german accent.

Süße Weihnachtsgeschichte

But the German accent was coming too strong. Especially since the narrator keeps it up the entire audiobook (congrats, that takes some serious dedication). Problem with that is that even working in a German company that is mainly English speaking: very few of the people who are actually that fluent have that level of an accent, especially considering her age. Also, not quite a German accent all the time and the speeches these people give are uncomfortable to listen to and they are usually shorter than half an audiobook. I enjoyed the story and the narrator herself did a good job. Choosing the strength of the accent was a creative decision that made this difficult to listen to. Also, no native German speaker who is fluent in English will randomly use ‚Ja‘ instead of ‚Yes‘ all the time to let people know she is a German speaker. That seemed very much like a fanfiction trope and o have never heard any person do that in real life, disregarding of mother tongue. Much more likely to struggle in the middle of the sentence or for grammar to be off or for googling to occur when you can’t figure out the English word für Ingwer and you really need it

Good story
