Für alle Fans der „His Dark Materials-Reihe“ ein Muss! Dieses Buch erzählt die Vorgeschichte von Lyra, die in diesem Buch erst 6 Monate alt ist.

Ein besonderes Highlight dieses Hörbuchs ist der Sprecher, der mit mitreissender Leidenschaft vorliest und den Hörer, vor allem an den spannenden Stellen in seinen Bann zieht. Sehr empfehlenswert.

Komplexer als das übliche Jugendbuch, es bleiben jedoch Fragen offen, sofern man sich noch nicht in der in dieser Reihe von Philipp Pullman geschaffenen Welt auskennt. In dem Fall macht das Buch neugierig auf mehr, ansonsten möchte man die bereits bekannten Bücher neu entdecken.

This surely is a very fine piece of an audiobook. the story is catching and engaging for what pullman is quite known for. what makes this audiobook truly magnificent is the rich, skillful and animated reading of mr sheen, who surpasses with his performance any other reader i have listened to so far (i have listen to abt 50 audiobooks).

Michael Sheens Erzählkunst ist so überwältigend und facettenreich, dass ich teilweise atemlos gelauscht habe. Pullmans Geschichte über Lyras Vergangenheit und seinen Protagonisten Malcolm ist tiefgreifend und spannend und der Sprecher versteht es brillant dies zu vermitteln.

Whoever loved „His Dark Materials“ will be delighted to hear what starts out as a prequel but will - according to the author - finish as an „Equel“ to the books about Lyra Belacqua....
