Philip Pullman is one of the most awe inspiring writers. He crafts a thrilling novel around topics that are most relevant for our time: ethics and democracy, love and compassion. What a wonderful book narrated in the most enthralling manner. I can’t wait until the next book is out

Whoever loved „His Dark Materials“ will be delighted to hear what starts out as a prequel but will - according to the author - finish as an „Equel“ to the books about Lyra Belacqua....

Michael Sheen reads the book wonderfullly and lets its characters spring to life in a most intense way!

Definitely something for those who have read the golden compass, but also for any other fantasy reader. It may be a teen / young adult book, but as pullman is, there is some real depth to it. A lance broken for humanism and reason in a world that is ever getting more ideological...

This surely is a very fine piece of an audiobook. the story is catching and engaging for what pullman is quite known for. what makes this audiobook truly magnificent is the rich, skillful and animated reading of mr sheen, who surpasses with his performance any other reader i have listened to so far (i have listen to abt 50 audiobooks).
