This story hit just the right spot. It was perfect in length, depth of the topics, action, progression of the main character, personalities of the side characters, humor, and much more. The story isn't what you expect at the start of the series and is never predictable. The emotional journey and growth that Jake goes through is very relatable and gives the reader/listener a lot to think about and also reflect.

Additionally, hats off to the narrator. Travis started the series strong and he's always been a favorite of mine, but I honestly think John Pirhalla did a wonderful job and fits the character of Jake even better. His voice is in my perception a bit more youthful and soft, which makes Jake's experiences and what he goes Through aswell as the Feeling of a simple Man being lost in a Magical World and Time even more impactfull. The transition wasn’t jarring and the quality stayed top-notch until the end.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the story and I'm happy to have found another great author. This was my first taste of J.R. Mathews' work, and I can't wait to dive into more of his stories.

I listend to all three books and I am now at the end of book three and let me tell you.... I am so happy. The ending is just beautiful, I can't say it any other way. It ties everything and who Jake is and what he wanted to do from the beginning so wonderfully together. I am so glad I decided to start this series. I'm not sure I will listen to it again, not because it's not worthy or anything, just because I don't think I will be able to bear it now that I know the ending. It is written in such a way that it feels like magic itself, every single book. The characters are so human, even when being gods but never loose their humanity, even when Jake has to fight himself about it. Even the darker topics are discussed in a way that is not morose or depressing. Serious, yes but never so that you feel as if there is no way out. I loved that throughout all the books, the sheer optimism. Watching Jake grow into himself was really cool and the different concepts that the author used are super interesting and well done. I love the series so much and I'm so so glad it ended in this way.

Ich bin kein großer Fan von der ganzen Kultivation Geschichte und fand das im ganzen die Karten doch etwas zu kurz gekommen sind. Aber das soll die Leistung nicht schmälern das es sehr gut an buch 2 anschließt und ein rundes ende bietet

Dank für diese Serie und das sie abgeschlossen wurde was so viele nicht schaffen.
