Solid story overall. King has a way of explaining just enough to leave you with questions but not feeling cheated. The first half of the book feels very different to the second. In the first, the atmosphere is uncanny and unsettling, the type of fright you can expect from a Steven King novel. In the second half the story takes a turn and the reader is given a glance into a strange and mystical universe, of which the reader slowly learns the mechanisms as fear turns into suspense. In hindsight, I enjoyed the first half somewhat more though.

The performance is also solid, voicing the characters fittingly without relying too much on using annoying modes. There are some parts that are underlined with music. Generally I like the way this is done and it's used sparingly enough to not lose its flair and adds to the atmosphere. Rarely, I found it a little annoying as the actual reading was drowned out by the music so much, that it was hard to comprehend.

Not my favorite Steven King novel but definitely an experience worth recommending.
