Fantastic to listen, absolute enjoyable. The narration is mind blowing and the story grabs you right from the beginning, you learn a lot about old British history with a twist of Agatha Christie’s crime stories. Love it, hope the series will go on.

I'm not a native speaker, so I am not sure, whether the speaker is native British or American imitating a British accent, she sounds British though. If you have once listened to Nathaniel Parker, it's difficult to rate any other speaker anyway. I wouldn't get too excited about the story crime-wise, but if you like extensive descriptions and the British way of life, this is an audiobook to go. It's just nice to listen to it while doing housework.

I have read many reviews to this, and one thing I have to say: How darn clever to choose for the main character to have lived in the States for a longish period and dealing with US customers mostly, now that she's back home! How many cozy mysteries have been disected and/or bashed for their mixture of American and British language. This main character provides a perfectly good excuse for moving in both worlds.
What's more, she's a really likeable down-to-earth person. Everyday troubles, everyday delights. She does not ever think she can do better than the police by going into a dark room looking for a black cat ... Brits will get the end of that sentence :-)
She doesn't take unneccessary risks going on blind missions.
There are a few signs of romance ensuing, but nothing to bust the "cozy" label. The main character is as confused as we are in this book about the prospectors.
Last words: If you don't like dogs, you might not like this series. The puppy (she didn't want) takes quite some room.
I got the second installment right away and have nearly finished the Cornish mystery ,,,

… für Cosy Mystery-Liebhaber. Die Handlung ist unterhaltsam bis zum Schluß, und das Buch ist sehr schön gelesen.

I loved to have a cosy crime book with a lot of character story interwoven in it and some enjoyable romantic plot. The describtions of the different places throughout this series make me want to travel to them and I enjoyed the cosy mystery book tour context and the occasional discussion of crime books or authors within that.
If you are looking for something fast paced, this will not be for you. But if you enjoy a cosy plot, this might well be worth a try. The crime aspect might not be center stage all the time, but I find it interesting and diverse enough to keep my interest and spice up the book.

Die Sprecherin war nicht ganz mein Fall, aber man konnte gut zuhören. Die Geschichte an sich mir wohl gut gefallen, aber ich fand es doch ein wenig offentsichtlich und das Ende eher enttäuschend. Die Nebengeschichten haben mir daher am besten gefallen, hätte gerne nochmal einen kurzen Nachtrag von Claire’s “Ladies” gehört.

Ganz schwer zu hören, weil die Geschichte selbst sehr leise erzählt wird (TECHNIKPROBLEM 🤬) - das"Audible hopes you have enjoyed ..." BRÜLLT geradezu am Ende des Hörbuchs.
Die Geschichte selber ist wunderbar erzählt, mit vielen Infos über Krimi-Autoren, aber ohne erhobenen Zeigefinger 🤗 Die Charaktere sind sehr liebevoll gezeichnet, sekbst die unangenehmen Zeitgenossen sind nicht platt beschrieben.
Ich freue mich schon auf den nächsten Teil der Tour! 🤗

I loved the poetic descriptions of English countrysides. The story was interesting, although the culprit was somewhat obvious.

It may not be great literature, but as an Audio book it is thoroughly enjoyable. Never boring and very well read!

The protagonist and how she describes her life in a new environment is very entertaining.
