Hitchens possessed two qualities, that his fellow horseman Dawkins lacks: a rethorical gift and a philosophical mind. „God is not great“ is incredibly honest, direct and raw. And even though I feel like Hitchens‘ thinking sometimes tends to be too close to „religion is bad, therefore god is bad“, this has been an incredibly edifying and thrilling listen. A towering intellectual, gone too soon.

Interessantes buch das viele fragen aufwirft und versucht ebensoviele zu beantworten. Manches darin wird einigen menschen nicht gefallen, aber deswegen ist es umso erfreulicher das Hitchens kein Blatt vor den Mund nimmt und sich nicht durch vermeintliche Tabus zum schweigen bringen lässt.

Das Buch selbst ist sehr gut und liefert viele gute Argumente. Leider wird es außerordentlich schlecht vorgetragen. Nicht nur, dass der Sprecher nuschelt, sondern auch die Betonung oder vielmehr die fehlende Betonung macht das hören außerordentlich anstrengend.

Der Inhalt ist grandios. Für jemanden, der Englisch nicht als Muttersprache kennt ist das Hörbuch aber eher schlecht verständlich. Zumindest ich hatte noch nie ein englisches Hörbuch dermassen schlecht verstanden. Ein hervorragender Autor muss nicht zwangsläufig ein hervorragender Vorleser sein
