Teilweise Themaverfehlung, da über weite Strecken einfach ein "Geschichtsbuch" über die britischen Inseln. Spannend am Anfang bis etwa zur Spätantike und dann wieder im 19. Jahrhundert. Hier wird dann auch durchaus die Rolle der "Geographie" herausgearbeitet. Aber im Früh- und Hochmittelalter verliert sich der Autor in den Fehden der Adelshäuser und es ist dann einfach nur noch ein klassisches Geschichtsbuch - das den Nicht-Englandexperten auch leicht überfordern kann mit der Detailtiefe.
