In his big tent, he had something wild no man had yet to tame.

Jeffrey, a circus performer, has always longed for a permanent family, but being shuffled from big top to big top hasn’t afforded him much opportunity for a loving home. But when he first lays eyes on the scaled man in Edgar’s freak show, something clicks within his heart.

Dragon shifter Michael has endured years of dark captivity, held in between his forms, powerless to break Edgar’s hold on him and others within the freak show. Never did he think another life was possible, until Jeffrey entered his trailer.

The narrator is doing his best here, and I really like his voice, but it wasn't edited. Very disappointing for an audiobook I payed money for.
The main character, Jeffrey, is truly an astonishingly stupendous individual, and also seems to lack empathy for anone other than what was referred to throught THE WHOLE STORY as "freaks". Nothing is really explained and there are so many plotholes I felt more like I was being dragged along an unpaved dirt road behind supposedly expirienced, but truly thick and naive Jeffrey the whole time. It was agonizing after the first hour of him STILL not getting what was going on around him. Michael's character development basically wasn't there at all, he just suddenly at the end got over everything. Oh, and seriously, NOTHING AT ALL WAS EXPLAINED. This was not worth my money, and especially not worth the emotional investment I had in this story in the beginning. I had hoped so much for this, because it sounded like such a gret idea from the summary, but sadly the execution lacked severely.
