Inhaltsangabe

Costa First Novel Book Award winner 2017 - The Sunday Times best seller - AudioFile Magazine Earphones Award Winner

Soon to be a major motion picture produced by Reese Witherspoon.

Eleanor Oliphant has learned how to survive - but not how to live.

Eleanor Oliphant leads a simple life. She wears the same clothes to work every day, eats the same meal deal for lunch every day and buys the same two bottles of vodka to drink every weekend.

Eleanor Oliphant is happy. Nothing is missing from her carefully timetabled life. Except, sometimes, everything.

One simple act of kindness is about to shatter the walls Eleanor has built around herself. Now she must learn how to navigate the world that everyone else seems to take for granted - while searching for the courage to face the dark corners she's avoided all her life.

Change can be good. Change can be bad. But surely any change is better than...fine?

This audiobook contains an exclusive interview with author Gail Honeyman and narrator Cathleen McCarron.

Exceptional story, excellently read

The reader's wonderful Scottish accent makes the audio version of this book even more enjoyable than the paper version. Thanks for that!

Great!

I greatly enjoyed this book, however disturbing some of the passages are. A sad yet very realistic depiction of what childhood trauma can look like.

Different and highly enjoyable

I absolutely loved this book. Eleanor is an amazing character ans the description was in great detail but not at all overwhelming. I was able to imagine each character and live every single moment.
Thx. Claudia

Worth every penny and time..

Childlike innocence , grim veracity of loneliness, power of friendship and such polite honest non sarcastic remarks, all subsumed into one book.

Though fiction by nature, this book touches upon adulthood in such a way that it will resonate with the reader. Eleanor's honesty is refreshing and heart wrenching at the same time. Her struggle in life might make you pity her but make no mistake, she is completely fine and is a phoenix nonetheless.

A few lines that made me burst out laughing,

As Eleanor said , "I don't want to accept a drink from you, because then I would be obliged to purchase one for you in return, and I'm afraid I'm simply not interested in spending two drinks' worth of time with you."

wow!

unexpectedly amazing. No clichés at all and the characters are so tangible and real. The speaker did also an amazing job bringing them to life.the book is moving without being all drama. Humor is well dosed too without being forced or hysterical.

I enjoyed every minute of it

Some of the other listeners wrote that they had difficulties getting through the first half of the book. I'd like to disagree since I enjoyed every minute of it. Sometimes I was a bit worried because I could identify so deeply with the protagonist and her thoughts about other people. To hear how she gets to know the world more and more, making meaningful connections on the way therefore made me very happy. But the best is the speaker. I'm sure I'd have enjoyed the book if I had read it myself but the speaker is so wonderful that I'm glad I chose the audiobook. She has a very kind voice and acts out the funny parts so well that I laughed a lot. I highly recommend this audiobook, it was a pleasure.
