Inhaltsangabe

"While the history books are filled with tales of obsessive visionary geniuses who remade the world in their images with sheer, almost irrational force, I've found that history is also made by individuals who fought their egos at every turn, who eschewed the spotlight, and who put their higher goals above their desire for recognition." (From the prologue)

Very interesting, some useful information

Nothing completely new but a lot of stuff that is very helpful if you actually implement it. Inspired me to realise that creating something worthwhile is often not sexy and is just damned hard work.

All of the message is already in the title

Was genau hat Sie an Ego Is the Enemy enttäuscht?

Like so many books in this genre the author tries desperately to inflate a very simple concept until he can sell it as a book.It points out the very obvious fact that being overly self-involved and too focused on your own success and the "myth" that surrounds it is ultimately self-defeating.If you are already a humble person that considers himself to be above nothing and anybody, this book will waste several hours of your time. It will not teach you anything you didn't know already. If you think you have a problem with your ego, it might be mildly enlightening.

Good, but not my favorite book on Ego

- I enjoyed reading the book
- it helps to clarify and deepen the concept of Ego
- but it is rather business and success related
- I missed the aspect of ego in relationships and personal life a bit
- my top pick book on Ego is:
The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle

Loved listening to it from the author himself

Really enjoyed listening to the audiobook that's narrated by Ryan Holiday himself, felt more like a personal conversation rather than just another book - also enjoyed the conversation with Tim Ferriss at the end. Good stuff.

a bore

This is just one story after the other about unrelateable sportsmen and coaches. Not recommended.

I am very disappointed

I am very disappointed from this book and I would not recommend it to my friends. The book is boring, the speaker is boring, the content about "ego" is far far away from other books like "the power of now" by Eckhart Tolle. If you want to understand your ego, choose another book.

great content, reader not that much...

I love th cont not of that book. Ryan is definitely a great thinker, but he is not a great reader. his tone of voice make it difficult to follow the book content.
I wish he leave the reading part to someone else and just focus on writing another wonderful book.

Great book but...

... If you want to increase the value of the book further read Mastery and the 48 laws of power by Robert Greene and the subtle are of not giving a fuck by Mark Manson first. Ryan Holiday also cites Greene in his book and Greene is also on the reading list of Ryan, so don't miss that out. Great book. Will read again in a few months.

loved it. the book had vivid examples and allowed the listen to really follow and identity with the topics of the book.

my favourite quote in the book from Bismarck:  'Fools learn from experience. I prefer to learn from the experience of others.'

In essence this quote is the cornerstone of this great book.

I listened to it once at ordinary speed and then a second time with an increased reading pace.
