When Basch encountered an injured creature outside his town, he hadn't expected it to be a dragon. Nor had he expected its hunter to be a fire-wielding mage. But the very last thing he expected was to bond with this injured dragon and defeat the fire mage with his very own magic.

Now, after learning that he is a mage bonded to the legendary Ur-Dragon, Basch ventures to the Valhadria Academy. Dragon riders are trained and cultivated within its walls, where danger comes from both the other students and the dragons themselves.

But Basch has more enemies than most, given his special gifts. There are those who would seek to use his dragon for evil, and others who see Basch as a threat to the status quo.

If Basch and the Ur-Dragon are to survive, they will have to grow together in power, acquiring new draconic forms, elemental powers, and ways of manipulating the very fabric of magic.

An extremely stupid book. The Mc is 19 bumbles I speech and in action you would think he is a 13 Yr old. He is weak and he suddenly is being permitted to fight off enemies before receiving any expediated training. The school studies him and he gets nothing from them, he would do better off being on his own and not being advised by inexperienced mages. Who know nothing about his class of mage.
I have yet to finish the title, but I just cannot hold back on commenting.
Who's your target audience for this bumbling idiot of an MC ? Too mellow, shy and awkward one moment. Brash, stubborn in an idiotic way. Has no self reflection, needed to be told obviously things by the Dean. This is review is honest and reflects my temperament. The book might appeal to a different audience.
I cannot suffer this consecutively in listening to the follow up books.

Inconsistent mc
