The Hounds of Hell Motorcycle Club takes care of their own...and every once in a while, another rebellious soul catches their eye.

Sean "Ax" Hunter is both a former Marine and Sergeant at Arms for the Hounds of Hell MC. His mind works like a twisted hamster wheel. Dates, facts, faces, and memories are all vivid and constant. Nothing holds his attention long, until the night a Georgia storm forces him into an upscale club, and suddenly his attention belongs solely to her.

Layla Monroe, the rebel without a cause, just trying to stay afloat after her parents' tragic death. A death that is surrounded by both unanswered mysteries and shocking truth. The sins her parents kept covered up ran deep enough for Layla to question everything she's ever been taught, but they also keep her fighting her attraction to this monster she shouldn't want. The type of monster that just might be responsible for her loss in the first place.

Working for Sean doesn't seem like the smartest idea, but when he promises to pay her enough to cover the rest of her schooling, she can't resist. All she has to do is make it through two weeks of helping him heal and resisting the urges she keeps feeling every time he's near her. Layla is convinced her knight in shining armor isn't destined to come riding in on a Harley, but maybe fate has other ideas.

This book includes depictions of violence expected with the life of an outlaw motorcycle club. For mature listeners. Narrated in duet style.

After being obsessed with Wolf.e, I couldn’t wait a second longer to dive into Sean’s story—and let me tell you, it did not disappoint. This book still has those deliciously intense Sons of Anarchy vibes, and I am so here for it. Gritty, raw, and character-driven, Dove takes a slightly different tone than Wolf.e, focusing more on emotional intimacy and the complexity of identity and desire.

Layla is such a standout FMC—feisty, grounded, unapologetic, and real. Her inner monologues? So relatable. That tug-of-war between societal expectations and personal authenticity is portrayed in a way that feels deeply human and heartfelt. She’s the kind of heroine you root for hard.

And Sean… can this man get any better? He’s such a deep layered character...the perfect mix of cocky, broody, possessive, and protective. Yes, he borders on stalkerish at times (in the most hilarious and oddly endearing ways), but the man also meal preps, fills her fridge, fixes her car, and picks her up from work like a psycho boyfriend dream come true. His intensity is matched only by his unexpected tenderness—and the way his emotional backstory unfolds adds a powerful, almost fated layer to his connection with Layla. The book’s underlying message—don’t judge a book (in this case "man") by its cover—is embodied perfectly in Sean.

The MC (motorcycle club) backdrop plays a subtler role here—the spotlight is really on the unfolding, magnetic connection between Sean and Layla. Also, note to self: reread Wolf.e, because I read Wolf.e over a year ago, and I kept waiting for Brinley to make an appearance, only to realize Dove is set before her and Gabriel’s story—definitely a reminder to reread it soon!

The duet narration once again elevated the entire experience. C.J. Bloom was excellent, and Aiden Snow's voice fit Sean’s rough edges perfectly. That said—and I say this as someone who’s listened to a lot of his work—Aiden’s delivery has started to feel overly theatrical at times. The drawn-out phrasing and dramatic pauses occasionally pull me out of the moment. Still, both are on my favorites list, and the narration overall was fantastic.

Also, can we talk about these quotes?
✨ "Sometimes you have to do a little bad to do a lot of good."
✨ “I know that I see my path, but I don’t know where it leads. Not knowing where I’m going is what inspires me to travel it.”

The spice was frequent, explicit, and absolutely delicious—but it never overshadowed the plot or emotional core of the story.

While Dove was intense, well-crafted, and emotionally rich, Wolf.e still holds the top spot in my heart. But Sean and Layla’s story is unforgettable in its own right—and definitely worth a listen.
