Über diesen Titel

Growing stronger has brought its own challenges as Silas is more of a target than ever.

Worse, the Earth and its allies become targets too. Decisions have been made and obligations accrued.

The threats exist at many levels, but the one that must be dealt with first is one that doesn't seem to have any agenda but raw destruction. Silas must walk his own path and create a new way if he wants a future that diverges from the horrors he has been shown.

I enjoy the concept of multiple systems, their underlying principles, and how they connect. The idea of a main character who refuses to be confined to one system and instead chooses his own path is genuinely interesting.

However, the moral framework weakens the story. The protagonist’s values are rigid and overly binary, more like those of a young boy than a reflective adult. His beliefs are treated as absolute truths. Devils are evil. Harems are wrong. These ideas are never questioned, yet he freely decides to kill millions, destroy planets, or take responsibility for entire wars based on his assumed moral superiority.

He determines what he calls the lesser evil, and his decisions are always presented as correct. His actions have no lasting negative consequences that he must live with or reflect upon, which removes tension and moral weight. When others act for what they believe is the greater good, he judges them harshly without the same scrutiny he applies to himself. Over time, this black and white thinking feels superficial and pulled me out of the story.

No moral depth
