They say that the cure for love will make me happy and safe forever. And I've always believed them.

Until now.

Now everything has changed. Now, I'd rather be infected with love for the tiniest sliver of a second than live a hundred years suffocated by a lie.

There was a time when love was the most important thing in the world. People would go to the end of the earth to find it. They would tell lies for it. Even kill for it.

Then, at last, they found the cure.

Kritikerstimmen

Lauren Oliver is the rising star of young adult fiction... [DELIRIUM] deftly conjures up a recognisably dystopian parallel to our own world, as convincingly terrifying as the North America of Margaret Atwood's The Handmaid's Tale.
Prepare to pull a sickie and be rooted to your chair with one of the most addictive books we've come across in ages . . . A recklessly romantic, smart, poignant and tense read from one of the most exciting writers around . . . Clever, moving and incredibly addictive.
An original and fast-moving read from a very talented writer.
'Amazing, unputdownable!'
The transformation of Lena's character from start to finish is amazing, and Oliver's words really tug at your heartstrings. Highly recommended.
A dystopian Romeo and Juliet story that deserves to be as massive as Twilight.
A beautifully written and wonderfully addictive book that fans of Margaret Atwood will devour.
Lauren Oliver's Before I Fall was one of Bella's favourite books of last year and this follow-up doesn't disappoint.
Hugely compelling and addictive, this has massive commercial potential.
This has to be one of the most original fiction concepts for a long time... Brilliantly constructed... will leave you with your heart in your mouth... It will stir up the emotions that remind you why you bother with love at all.
'A dystopian Romeo and Juliet . . . Lauren Oliver's futuristic vision, set in an alternate but recognisable America, is chillingly realised.'
The setting for this clever, imaginative novel is a society in which love is treated as a disease... With a pacy, absorbing plot and a cast of engaging characters to revel in, Delirium also raises all manner of talking points: relationships, the role of the family, state intervention, friendship, loyalty, individual freedom. The movie must surely be just around the corner.
'Finished reading Lauren Oliver's book Delirium. A beautiful read. Can't stop thinking about it.'
For proper, spellbinding immersion pick up a copy of Delirium.
This thought-provoking novel, the first in a new trilogy, will have you gripped from start to finish. But be warned: the cliffhanger will leave you desperate for the next instalment.
'Part The Handmaid's Tale, part Twilight, we're addicted.'

I fevered with till the end.
Great speaker and a gripping story about love.

I'm looking forward to the next book.

That's an awesome story 😍

While I really liked the idea and the way it love as a disease and it's cure are depicted within this dystopian society, I could not stand the main character's very flat love interest, the often extremely corny language and was very disappointed by the plot (and, upon consulting summaries, the plots of the other books in the trilogy).

There were a handful of inconsistencies and some really weird comparisons (he looks like he is trying to swallow a porcupine)... and the ending is not explained well enough to justify the characters' actions, but going further into that would be a major spoiler.
The speaker has some great acting moments in there. She is very good at depicting the main character's -often subconscious- emotions in her reading. However, overall I found her voice somewhat annoying (shrill, at times), even in non-emotional moments. And since I already could not stand the main character's love interest, the smug, slightly drunk-sounding acting she used for him made it only worse.

Plot vs. Romance

Somehow reminded me of "1984"

Definitely worth reading/listening.

I just wished to be more dragged into the story emotionally and I don't like repetitions of exactly the same sentences...

Next episode already downloaded and read/heard :)

Great reader and story

toll!

The best paranormal ya series that came my way in a long time.
The world in which this trilogy is set is intriuging and frightening at the same time.
Delirium is set in a future world where Love is nothing more than a sickness that needs to be eleminated. In order to get rid of the disease and the Diseased the world is split in The CURED,those people that alraedy have been 'fixed' by a medical procedure that strips away the capability to feel emotions that give us happieness,an the UNCUREDS,which is everyone under the age of 18 and the so called sympathizers and ivalids who fight the system.

People are beeing watched, persecuted and killed for the tinyest sign of unfit behaviour. There is no freedom of speech or freedom in general at all within the walls of a city.
The heroine in this book is starting to question the system when she meets Alex and falls in love with him.
The story is touching and very well read.
A must read for everyone who is enjoying a smart and touching love story.

Brilliant book!
