It’s been an enjoyable and murder-free time for Judith, Suzie and Becks – AKA the Marlow Murder Club – since the events of last year. The most exciting thing on the horizon is the upcoming wedding of Marlow grandee, Sir Peter Bailey, to his nurse, Jenny Page. Sir Peter is having a party at his grand mansion on the river Thames the day before the wedding, and Judith and Co. are looking forward to a bit of free champagne.

But during the soiree, there’s a crash from inside the house, and when the Marlow Murder Club rush to investigate, they are shocked to find the groom-to-be crushed to death in his study.

The study was locked from the inside, so the police don’t consider the death suspicious. But Judith disagrees. As far as she's concerned, Peter was murdered! And it’s up to the Marlow Murder Club to find the killer before he or she strikes again…

Judith, Becks und Susie sind so liebevoll geschriebene Figuren, es macht Spaß, ihnen beim Detektivspielen zuzuhören.
Nicolette McKenzie ist eine meiner Lieblingssprecherinnen und macht wie immer einen super Job.
Freue mich auf einen dritten Teil.

Besser als der 1. Teil

Even though I guessed right from the start who the murderer is, I immensely enjoyed the book. I love the four main characters and I am always intrigued by a good locked door mystery. Also, Nicolette McKenzie is the perfect narrator for the story. She gave all the characters a recognizable and unique voice.

I guessed correctly, who the killer was, and early - but I'd never imagined how they'd done it. Thorogood kept it interesting until the very end.

I absolutely loved it. I used to read Miss Marple as a kid and I am estatic to find a book series that has the same atmosphere while being much more easy to connect with and, honestly, hilariously written. I like the slow pace, I like that ladies being the main characters, I enjoyed the clues and little side plots. Overall it's just a wonderful relaxing listen.

Ich habe bereits den ersten Teil der Serie gehört und auch gemocht. Diesen Teil finde ich nun fast schon überspannt. Die Charaktere der 3 “Privat-Detektivinnen” sind nahezu Karikaturen und mir persönlich nicht mehr wirklich sympathisch. Die Geschichte ist mir zu abstrus, zumal dann die/der Mörder/in genau die Person ist, die ich von Anfang an in Verdacht hatte und mich wunderte, dass der Autor sie als einzige gänzlich unverdächtig darstellt?! Na, ja.
