Some secrets carry the weight of the world.

Rose McKenzie may be far from Earth with no way back, but she's made a powerful ally—a fellow prisoner with whom she's formed a strong bond. Sazo's an artificial intelligence. The Class 5's owners, the Tecran, look set to start a war to get it back and Dav suspects Rose isn't the only alien being who survived what happened on the Class 5. And whatever else is out there is playing its own games.

In this race for the truth, he's going to have to go against his leaders and trust the dark horse.

I "bought the t-shirt". Listening to this book was interestingly compelling. It was a good story with pleasant voices that complemented it.

Cozy yet not extra sweet

I did not know what to expect going into this because it was just recommended on audible and looked pretty. I didn't read the description, just dove in. I am so glad I did! It was truly such a great read. The narrator did an excellent job with a large cast of characters and diverse species. I think she made the reading that much more enjoyable.

The story was more of a tense psychological thriller than I expected from a romance novel, and I would say the romance comes off more as a subplot, but it's quite satisfying and does have even one spicy scene (pretty tame but not a closed door situation either). I'm really impressed with the author's investigation of the ethics of artificial intelligence and the treatment of unexpected sentient beings.
