Characters who become so real one doesn’t want to say goodbye. I’ve just finished listening to the Audible version and Alex Wyndham’s reading is wonderful. He brings the characters to life so skillfully that one quite forgets that this is a man reading female voices. A good actor disappears behind the characters he creates so that the listener becomes completely focused on the story, and this Alex achieves admirably. Of course, he had a superbly written story to work his magic on! Dair Devil is part of a terrific series but can be enjoyed alone. Still, I’m willing to bet that anyone who reads or listens to this book will want to get hold of the rest. I’ve read the series and now I’m enjoying it all over again on Audible. If you haven’t met this cast of characters yet you have a treat ahead of you!
