I absolutely loved this book, I could hardly stop listening. It's an incredible story weaving the Gospel into a mix of historical fact and fiction, and the narrator really makes it come to life by doing different accents and giving each character a different voice. For me, this is one of the best books by Lynn Austin and I can't wait to listen to the next two of the series.

I have never read a book so insightful and thought provoking. I loved the way it was written, in the beginning I thought to myself that I might dislike the book because they already had a slave setting. It was so fulfilling to understand the Lord and have some biblical explanations from Eli. I recommend this book

The story unfolds somehow slowly, but as it progresses it starts to make sense because it helps to understand and fall in love with the characters.
This story is not a happy one, it is filled with longing and heartache, but still filled with love and compassion.

Personalities, psychological depth, twisting plot, details of life as it was back then, spiritual truth as it appears in real life, all of which was absolutely brilliant. And I can't often say that a christian novel challenges me. But this one did! Thank you so much!
