She soon finds herself mixed up with a drug runner in an art deco motorboat, a professional nose obsessed with Hitler’s aftershave, a neoliberal enforcer with footwear issues, and an array of bloggers, hackers, code monkeys, and entrepreneurs, some of whom begin to show up mysteriously dead. Foul play, of course.

I have to read this book myself because with this speaker/reader it is impossible to follow the story properly. The speaker has a really unpleasant, boring voice and can't master the art of giving the different characters a voice you can recognize. A waste.
Thomas Pynchon hasn't deserved that.

Great story (so far), really bad reader

As someone who was perplexed and fascinated by Pynchons earlier and more ambitious works i was curious to see what he could do to with a more recent environment like ca 9/11 silicon alley with all its potential for historical perspective, crazy conspiracies, and timely commentary.
In the end what pynchon delivers is a silly little story that goes nowhere and displays the kind of poor understanding of technology, business and politics you would expect from an aging stoner for whom the sixties never ended. Especially the language he puts into his character's mouth's feels almost cringeworthily anachronistic considering the subject.
This narrator doesn't help things when she channels a middle aged jewish lady reciting words that were clearly written for Johnny Depp's famous hunter s thompson impersonation.
The result is test of patience at many times while of course flashes of brilliance shine through here and there given the immense experience and talent of the author.

it is completely impossible to listen to this. One monotone voice for all characters - and not even a pleasant one.

Was genau hätte man an Bleeding Edge noch verbessern können?

The reader is not good enough for a professional recording. She does not follow the sentence structure and seems not capable of keeping two voices in a dialogue apart. She tries, but always end up mixing the persons voices up, making the story very hard to follow. This recording should be withdrawn and re-recorded.
