A wooden kitchen chair stood alone in a frozen field on January 9, 2011, forty yards from Flat Creek Road with no footprints leading to or away from it - and Wendy Porter photographed it sixteen times before sunrise. Weeks later, a knocking between ten p.m. and two a.m., a bent ventilation screen and pooling water in a crawl space revealed that something had been living beneath a farmhouse; how did a chair end up in the field and what was hiding under the house?
In this episode, we follow the chronology from Wendy Porter’s roadside discovery to the months of quiet accumulation around the Murphy farmhouse, laying out the noises, inspections, and small details that kept pointing to one unresolved question: what lived beneath Flat Creek Road?

- Amy Murphy heard three or four knocking beats between ten p.m. and two a.m., occurring intermittently starting in November 2010.
- Pest-control worker Joe Wilder inspected the crawl space, noted disturbed insulation and a bent section of vent mesh, wrote “raccoon” on his report, and charged $60.
- By the third week of October 2010 something had been living in the crawl space beneath the farmhouse while inspections and routine departures occurred.
