- The temperature the night before had dropped to 19°F, yet the water in the jar remained liquid and moved when Osborne lifted it.
- Vernon Ault died in July 1993 in his greenhouse on Ferris Road; he stored larkspur seeds labeled "Consolida ajacis - violet, dark" and never planted them after his death.
- Edna Creel entered Darby Senior Residence in March 2011 at age 81 and mentioned in September that she wished someone would put flowers on Vernon's grave.
