After more than fifty years in education and coaching, I've come to believe that most young people don't need someone to rescue them. They need someone to believe in them and challenge them.
I've seen that belief create real-world results. Most recently, a young wrestler featured in my book, Perseverance and Grit Come in Many Forms and the Sky is the Limit, received a $3,000 scholarship after members of a scholarship committee read her story and recognized her perseverance, character, and determination. Experiences like that reinforce something I have believed for years: when we shine a light on young people who are doing the right things, opportunities often follow.
As a teacher, coach, mentor, and author, I have spent my career working with young people and seeing firsthand what helps them succeed. Confidence doesn't come from praise alone. It comes from accomplishing meaningful goals, developing strong people skills, and learning how to overcome challenges.
Through my books and speaking, I help young people ages 15 to 25 successfully move from the locker room to real life. With lessons from athletics, entrepreneurship, and personal development, I teach the habits that build resilience, self-reliance, communication skills, work ethic, and long-term thinking.
My goal is not to motivate young people for a day. My goal is to help them turn on their own internal burners, discover their "why," and develop the confidence that comes from doing hard things and earning success one step at a time.
Young people feel their best when two things are happening: they are accomplishing meaningful goals and they are developing strong people skills. When those two areas improve together, confidence grows, opportunities expand, and young people begin creating a future they can be proud of.
My mission is simple: help young people move from the locker room to real life with confidence, purpose, resilience, and the tools they need to become the best version of themselves.
