Good afternoon. New York. I'm Aaron Jolly. That steady rain you heard drumming on the roof overnight left behind nearly a third of an inch. Now we're sitting at 48 degrees under stubborn gray skies. But today is actually your dry window. You'll want to use it wisely. In the next 24 hours. Down in the city, you'll see partly sunny skies with a high near 46 degrees. Just a slight chance of a passing shower before 4 P.M. Head up to the Capital Region and it's a different look entirely — sunny skies, a high near 45 degrees. Western New York also grabs the sunshine with a high near 48 degrees. Central New York sits at 42 under mostly sunny skies. Tonight, temperatures drop fast. The Capital Region plunges to 27 degrees with patchy fog developing after 11 P.M. The city holds milder at 38. And here's a treat — step outside tonight and catch the full moon. But Thursday. Thursday is when things get messy. Rain spreads statewide. The city sees a soggy day with a high near 43. Upstate, it gets complicated. The Capital Region starts with rain, then transitions to a wintry mix Thursday night — sleet, freezing rain, even some snow. A Winter Weather Advisory kicks in Thursday evening through Friday noon for areas north and east of Albany. Western and Central New York see steady rain Thursday into Thursday night. The five-day outlook? Quite a turnaround. We stay cool and wet through Friday. Then a dramatic warm-up arrives. By Saturday, western New York could hit 64 degrees. By Tuesday, temperatures climb into the mid-60s across much of the state. Some spots may even touch 70 degrees. Spring is knocking. About two weeks until the equinox. Charge your phone before Thursday night. You'll want the updates if you're north of Albany. For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast as confidence improves. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
