The U.S. Supreme Court ruled on Friday that the broad tariffs President Donald Trump justified with national emergency powers — including the 35 per cent imposed on non-CUSMA-compliant Canadian goods — are illegal, leading Trump to immediately announce a global 10 per cent tariff through a different legal avenue. Canada-U.S. Trade Minister Dominic LeBlanc responds to questions about whether Canada will still enjoy a CUSMA exemption by saying the U.S. never granted it 'because they want to be nice to us,' but because it's in the 'American economic interest.'
