Scripture: Matthew 6:17–18—"But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face; That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret…”
Jesus was very intentional in Matthew 6 when He addressed fasting. He didn’t discourage it. He corrected the motivation behind it. He warned against fasting that is outwardly visible but inwardly empty.
