Über diesen Titel

On a remote Scottish island, three couples are tying the knot—but even in paradise, nothing is pain-sailing....

Curl up and escape with Jenny Colgan

Olivia and Anthony are planning a very extravagant wedding at the newest hotel on the tiny Scottish island of Mure. They're flying in chefs, musicians and something called a living flower wall...and no one is even allowed to think the word bridezilla.

Flora is trying—and failing—not to let Olivia and Anthony's wedding distract her from planning her own big day with Joel. But the couple have wildly different ideas about how to celebrate and somehow, just when their relationship should be plain sailing, everything is suddenly very hard indeed.

And then there's Lorna and Saif. The local headmistress and the GP desperately keeping their relationship a secret to protect his sons. But while they're looking out for the boys, who's looking out for them?

Three couples. One midsummer's night. Can everyone get their happy ever after?

I'm reallly disappointed in Jenny Colagan. I really expected a lot better from her, she is usually so aware, which is what I really like about her books, by never explicitely writing about someones race or skin colour she challanges the reader to question their own assumptions. But this ending really was a let down. Spoiler disclaimer at this point.
The good asylum seeker is the one that goes back home to help rebuild his country not the the one that stays in safety. Really? What racist bollocks. Also it leaves out a lot. Saif is still in fighting age, if he goes back to Syria he would have to join Assads army and so would his sons soon, what father would do that? That is if he isn't arrested on return because he refused to join the Syrian National Army in the first place which is why pretty much all male syrian asylum seekers can't return, because they would be immediatly arrested for desertion. The whole narrative compelety leaves out Assad and the Mukhabarat and even if Damascus was safe there still is the repressive Syrian government dicatating what you can do, say, or even think. But of course the honourable things is for Syrians to go back there and take their children with them. Like I say what utter racist bullocks. Only someone who grew up in safety and freedom could come up with this "heroic" narrative. No Thank You!!

racist bullshit
