Inhaltsangabe

In this fairy tale with a sexy twist, she’s a penniless San Francisco seamstress. He’s the king of Italian couture. Who’s got designs on whom?

Boutique owner Kimber DiSanto has seen better days. She’s been dumped at the altar by Prince Charmless, her business went up in flames (literally), and now she’s stuck in Florence, Italy, with an ice-queen stepmother, to try to save her late father’s failing dress shop. Only one thing could make it worse: another man in her life. The arrogant Italian fashion tycoon offering to buy her father’s shop is as rich as he is sexy, and their attraction is off the charts. But Kimber’s not about to get burned again.

Women don’t say no to Matteo Moretti - and certainly not with Kimber’s stinging precision. With all the heat and fury sparking between them, Matteo can’t resist baiting the gorgeous American. His plan? Win her over one scorching kiss at a time.

Kimber tells herself it’s all just a game. That her broken heart isn’t in danger, and that Matteo’s touch does not make her Lady Land dance with joy. But sometimes it takes the fieriest of enemies to turn a fantasy into a real-life romance.

Kept me grinning and gushing from start to finish!

This is one great read that kept me smiling and at times laughing from beginning till the end. And the hotness of Matteo combined with Kimber's charm and crazy zany character makes their slow Burn love and attraction all the more giddy and suspenseful in a hot way. Kept me on the edge Everytime they meet.
The setting alone, Florence, Italy, is as romantic as you can possibly imagine in this love story. Lovable and wild cast of characters you will surely adore. Hilarious at times. And sizzling moments of romance for the two main characters. All in all a really great worthwhile read. Wonderfully written, beautiful and funny storylines, well crafted idea of a romantic novel. The Audiobooks Narrator and Voice Actors are perfect! They made the whole novel come alive. A definite must read.

unfortunately ...

... not nearly as good as the first two parts of the Slow Burn series.

The female narrator does a good job but Brian Pallino puts on a pseudo-Italian accent that's grating. I did get used to it, though, so that's just a personal grievance.

The story as such is weak and could be told in 1/3 of the time. My main complaint, however, is that it's incredibly clichéd. Every male Italian is either flirty, smarmy, horny, arrogant, or a crook. The females are all cooks or seamstresses, except for the marchesa. Every single cliché is being dragged out and that soured the whole book for me.

Also, I'm not a huge fan of exploding ovaries, and if I had a nickel for every time that metaphor comes up, I could buy me a better book.

The first two Slow Burn books were really good but this one has all the grace of cheap porn (and yes, the "steamy" scenes are also ... meh).
