JAFF with some interesting and mostly in-character changes. I liked the story very much in the beginning but it stagnated middle to end. Still enjoyable though.
Elisabeth’s learning curve is sped up drastically due to the story setup. Darcy’s learning curve is frustratingly slow.
The narrator gives a really good performance here.

An intriguing prompt to the canon events which makes for a promising start. However fascinating the side plot/mystery of Anne running away with a lover, the alteration impedes the change in character for both protagonists which ultimately makes for a Darcy who remains too resentful and too prideful and too overbearing until the very end, rendering Elizabeth's turn of affection in his favour puzzling, or perhaps even undeserved.
The story is nonetheless entertaining as Starnes does an expectedly good job of emulating Austenite language with a modern twist. Overall though, the romantic heroes are a bit too frustrating and their exchanges not rewarding enough to revisit this story.

As usual, Zimmerman makes for an enjoyable listening experience. The fact this isn't her most engaging work, however, is likely due to the faults of the novel.
