To solve an impossible murder, you need an impossible hero…

Seventy-seven-year-old Judith Potts is blissfully happy. She lives alone in a faded mansion in Marlow, sets crosswords for The Times, and there’s no man in her life to tell her what to do or how much whisky to drink.

One evening, while out swimming in the Thames, Judith witnesses a brutal murder. When the local police don’t believe her story, Judith and two unlikely friends decide to investigate for themselves. Together, they are the Marlow Murder Club.

But soon another body turns up, and it seems they have a real-life serial killer on their hands. Now the puzzle they set out to solve has become a trap from which they might never escape…

Lovely characters, well-written story and Nicolette McKenzie as narrator - just perfect. If you love the Thursday Murder Club, you'll enjoy this book!

one of my favourite audio books

I simply loved "Death in Paradise" and was looking forward to this latest creation of Robert Thorogood - and was not disappointed. An unlikely trio of women - Judith, a 77 year old eccentric cross-word creator, Susie, a not so well-off dog walker and Becks, a fastidious vicar's wife - solve a string of puzzling murders and become BFFs in the process. Nicolette McKenzie does a great job and turns this "old-fashioned" whodunit into a thoroughly entertaining listening experience. I hope this is the start of a new series! :-)

Miss Marple now lives in Marlow

An enjoyable yarn where an unlikely trio of bored and under-appreciated women set out to solve the triple murders currently rocking peaceful Marlow. Led by the indomitable 77 year old crossword setter Judith Potts, the forthright dogwalker Suzie and timid vicar’s wife Becks stumble upon the truth and become friends in the process.

While i enjoyed it, and the plot wasnt too obvious , it didn’t have quite the same charm as the Richard Osman books for me.

Enjoyable but not brilliant
