The only thing about me that’s a size zero is the filter on my mouth. I’ve got a big personality, a big rack, and a big number on the scale. And I’m perfectly fine with that.

But when some random guy suggests I might not be eating alone if I’d ordered a salad instead of a hamburger I’m shocked silent, which is a feat, trust me.

That brings us to one sexy fireman named Frankie Hartigan. He’s hot. He’s funny.... And he’s just apologized for being late for our “date” then glared at the fat-shaming jerk. Next thing I know, he’s sitting down and ordering himself dinner.

I have no problem telling him I don’t need a pity date...unless of course it’s to my high school reunion next week. Oops where did that last bit come from? And what do I do now that he’s said yes?!

Because this is no make-over story, and I think Frankie is using me for something. I just have to figure out what....

In the past, I've listened to audiobooks by Avery Flynn, that I've really liked. So I jumped at the opportunity to get the e-book for free on Amazon and add the audio for only 2,95 €. But I was disappointed by this story. The female MC has fought her whole life to get rid of her nickname "Muffin Top". Now, after finishing the book, I think that the title is really hypocritical... The female MC was very sensitive about her weight/size. She couldn't accept herself or bring herself to lose weight. And as a consequence of her self-doubt, she not only expects everyone around her to fat-shame her - she basically dared them to. So that's what people did. Being bullied about something you aren't able to change is hard as hell. Believe me, I know from personal experience. But being overweight is something one CAN change. Either that or accept yourself, Muffin top and all. But just jammering on about it and waiting for the next Person to insult her drove me nuts. Unfortunately, the male MC was portraied as a one-dimensional doofus with only bedroom business on his mind. And I don't mean sleeping lol If a stiff breeze blew a hundred miles away, the male MC got aroused. Honestly, his inappropriate excitement at every opportunity (with or without other people around) made me uncomfortable. Plus, it made him seem like a complete airhead with only one thing on his mind. The humor was missing too. Or maybe I just missed it, since all the internal jammering from both MCs led to constant missunderstandings and thus fights with each other. For the last third of the book, I skipped a lot. Sadly, I obviously didn't miss much... And I was sooooo annoyed by the male MC being called a "hot ginger" all the time. If he'd been blond, would he have been described as a "hot blond" constantly? I really doubt it. The idea of two characters not being the average Joe/Jane is something I appreciate normally. But in this book, their struggles were not being portrayed in any respectful manner. So only 1,5 Stars for the story.

The narrators are good, but not my favorites either. Most of all S. Peachwood reads male voices too breathy. But all in all, the duo of narrators works great together. 4 Stars for narration.

The narrators are basically the only reason, why I rate the total with 2 Stars. This book Was definately not for me.

Not my book

Schade.

fat shaming ...
