Bradley just spent a month with Kieran, a foreign exchange student from the United States, and now it’s Bradley’s turn to go and spend a month with Kieran in North Dakota. Bradley can’t wait. Kieran made his hometown sound like so much fun.
But the day Bradley arrives in that small town is the same day Kieran is taken to the hospital with a bursting appendix. Now, it’s looking like Bradley is going to be spending most of that month alone with Kieran’s mother.
The house is a lot smaller than Kieran had led Bradley to believe, and a whole lot more remote. And Ashley, who had Kieran when she was very young, is strangely interested in Bradley. At first, her interest seems almost romantic—and then it starts to seem downright intimate before turning into something more strict and motherly.
Ashley seems to have some sort of plan for Bradley, and she seems strangely determined to realize her plans before her son is discharged from the hospital.
