Arden St.Ives is such a vivid, joyful, ridiculous, passionate and also lost character who is trying to figure out his life at the same time he meets this man he falls in love with who is complicated in the complete opposite way. graceful to Ardy's clumsiness, successful but so helpless when it comes to expressing any emotion or even allowing himself to have them. ...
but Alexis Hall's talent is also evident in the way he breathes life into the side characters to the point I actually wanted more of them by the and of book 3 in this series.
I read the books before listening to the audio book and love the series.... and wish it would get the cover Ardy deserves!

Enjoyed it soooo much! Joel Leslie is so brilliant! It didn't seem like a story read to you by him, but rather like he (as the character) was directly telling it to you. He embodied the character so perfectly - like it was written specificly for him.
Will immediately binge the next book...

Fifty shades of gray even in LGBTQ setting is not really my thing. There was a moment right after the Prelude that I had a strong urge to delete the book from my phone. I like Alexis Hall but this much? No!
Or yes? After getting over the inital scare of "Help, this is will be a bdsm book!" I continued listening and it isn't a bdsm book. Definitely not in the classic sense like the Story of O and these all the way torture wrap beat things. This is romance and fun. Funny! Really funny! Way better than the original Fifty shades (though this isn't a big compliment I guess).

Anyways what I want to say this is a surprisingly funny romance, and a brilliant presentation of it. I became very early very curious what will happen to Arden.
And no, not a classical torture and dominate type of bdsm story at all, so if you cannot stomach that it's not an issue here. Alexis Hall proved again to be great writer and make the story both very amusing and strangely "real" and believable at the same time.

I gave this book a try because I like Alexis Hall and love Joel Leslie - so I bought it and hoped for the best.
Both protagonists have their pasts which they try to hide, this paired with serverly lacking communication skills leaves them on a stony path.
Alexis Hall's ability to introduce humour in different ways into situations that might not be funny keeps the story on lighter paths even when there are ravines on both sides of said paths.

This book is so much more than the title promises

Die Sprecher machen einen guten Job.
Die Geschichte hat mich persönlich diesmal nicht getoucht. Ich konnte auch die Entwicklung und die Verbindung der Charaktere nicht nachvollziehen.
Mir haben andere Bücher besser gefallen vom Autor.
