And although I love a good enemies to lovers story, this one made me very uncomfortable. Because from the beginning, a weird power imbalance is described as a romantic setup, dominance is shown as courting, a „no“ is understood only as a challenge, and disrespecting the other‘s boundaries is the ultimate demonstration of love.
For a queer person like myself, this reads as toxic straight culture disguised as a fantasy mlm romance.
So if you‘re queer and think consent is a good idea, this book might not be for you.
