Interesting but a Little Dull
The author is reading her own work here. I enjoyed some of her stories, which are probably Macdonald's journal, written in essay structure. Maybe she could have left the reading for audio to someone else. Even though it makes the whole concept authentic, her reading voice is too monotone to keep the listener interested. I thoroughly enjoyed the chapter about mushrooms. After about 6 hours of listening, I have heard enough and am not going to continue.

Beautiful & thoughtprovoking essays
Every single story made me think. About nature in the wild and human nature. Really well constructed, clever, heartfelt. The author reads herself and does it well. However, this is one book of probably prefer to have on my shelf (rather than audio) to dip into and return to.
