these truths
wonderful, comprehensive political history of the United States. Light on some periods and diving quite deep into others as is expected, but overall a very good and relatively unpartisan history for the most part. It does seem to become a bit more partisan near the end Beginning in the 80s just as society it self. I'm unsure if the book shouldn't have ended in 2012 or before trump's election as I personally believe it is too early for an historian to be able to write much of use about trump's election right after the occasion.
Overall a strong recommendation for anyone wanting to listen to a big history of the us from a 21st century perspective.

Toller Inhalt, sehr unangenehme Stimme
Die Sprecherin hat ein unglaublich schrilles Organ. Es nervt, dass sie die Lautstärke ständig variiert. Das zwingt den Zuhörer, die Lautstärke immer wieder anzupassen. Der Inhalt ist über jeden Zweifel erhaben.

Well written book but annoying recording
The book is well researched, written and interesting to listen to.
The reading was very annoying to me. I understand that the author wants to make listening easier by variations in speed, pitch and volume, but especially the last one is annoying. Some sections are hardly whispered, one has to turn the volume up to hear anything and then the author proceeds to nearly scream .... one contantly has to adjust the volume.

Great book, weak reader
The book itself ist great as told many times before.
Unfortunately the author is not not a good reader. She reads too fast and tends to mumble.
It would have done the audiobook well to be read by a professional reader. The author should have concentrated on reading the introduction and the epilogue.
