The village of Badger's Drift is the essence of tranquillity. But when resident and well-loved spinster Miss Simpson takes a stroll in the nearby woods, she stumbles across something she was never meant to see, and there's only one way to keep her quiet.
Miss Simpson's death is not suspicious, say the villagers. But Miss Lucy Bellringer refuses to rest: her friend has been murdered. She is sure of it.

Great Plot…
This is the first of seven Inspector Barnaby books and it is spectacular in a humble way. I enjoyed every minute listening to it. I do know the TV series and love them, but having read the original, gave me great pleasure and a more in depth look at the various characters.

the mystery yes, the attitudes no
the mystery was good - not great but good.
i had more problems with the writer's attitude toward certain people - gays, and other people that don't fit the mold if you will. so prepare for some old-fashioned homophobia, fatphobia, and misogyny. it was actually tough to get through. my rating is actually 2.5.
