The Annurian Empire is disintegrating. The advantages it used for millennia have fallen to ruin. The ranks of the Kettral have been decimated from within, and the kenta gates, granting instantaneous travel across the vast lands of the empire, can no longer be used.

Good story, sometimes awkward phrasing and reading
I liked the story, worldbuilding and the atmosphere of the book, but sometimes it's just to much crying, overthinking and stupidity.
It would be fine if these characters had a little bit of humor, but it all seems artificially gloomy.
The characters feel kinda bland, Rock even stupid and slow.
Joe Jameson just slaughters this little bog man with his voice akting. By far the worse parts of the book. Quirk and Cudbill do a good job and I would have enjoyed a bit more of the thief/monk character, as it is by far the best storyline.
