Amazing book!
Definitely one of Christopher Paolini's best works. Murtagh is the most interesting protagonist I've ever seen. His and Thorn's character growth is so sweet. And the voice is amazing! 10/10, would recommend!

Well written and beautifully told
The way the story is written… is fantastic. Truly
I was interested at first but in the end i was mesmerised.

Finally a spin-off about my favourite character!
I couldn’t stop listening to ‘Murtagh’! This felt like a much needed redemption arc and Christopher Paolini did him justice. Murtag has always been my favourite character, even back then when the first Inheritance Cycle book came out! The audiobook was well done as well.

Bis auf den allerletzten Teil mäßig
Bleibt hinter dem zurück, was man aus Eragon von Christopher Paolini gewohnt ist. Immer noch gute schriftstellerische Arbeit, jedoch eine wenig dichte Erzählung, weniger spannend und mit weniger Witz und Charme als die bisherigen Werke.

A lack of substance
Half of this book is set-up for a story that takes too much time to deliver very little. Another fourth of the text consists of flashbacks. At the end almost all questions are left unanswered in this so-called “stand-alone-story” and the whole thing smacks of an advertisement for future books in the world of Eragon.
Even though Paolini’s writing style is still enjoyable I can’t recommend it to anyone. It’s unimaginative, too much of it is reused from Eragon and it feels unfinished.
In the span of time it takes for this book to tell one bland story other books deliver multiple exciting ones.
