Great ending !

Expectations met, narrator sounded a bit too old and wise but that somehow put me in the 1930s ... Maybe that was intended

Creating a monster to save humanity

Another tale in the classic Fredrick Pohl-style: a slowly developing story with lots of surprises and seemingly sudden developments that were long in the making. Full with brilliant little stories and details within the story and a biting satire on the space race and the men so full with “the right stuff”. And they have to create a monster to save humanity so that in the end all of it is coming to a conclusion that is logical, yet disturbing.

Apparently the story is told from two POVs and Dennis Boutskikaris tries to make it sound differently but this does not work so well. Maybe it would have been better to have two voices. This works very well with “Timescape” by Gregory Benford where two people tell a similar tale about a secret project in a race against doom.

Summing up this was a tale brilliant in parts, somewhat disturbing towards the end, but worthwhile listening to all the time.
