Miss Marple meets Oscar Wilde in this new series of cosy mysteries set in the picturesque Cotswolds village of Bunburry.
Life is looking up for amateur sleuth Alfie McAlister. He has found relatives he never knew he had, and at long last, he has replaced the avocado suite in his bathroom. But he is shocked to get a plea for help from his niece Ruby, a young law graduate in Oxford. There is no support from his fellow amateur sleuths: Liz and Marge are having problems of their own, and Constable Emma Hollis isn't answering her phone. He offers Ruby sanctuary in Bunburry - but his invitation brings danger to the village...
Nathaniel Parker, born in 1962, graduated from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art and went on to join the Royal Shakespeare Company. His television career began in 1988 when he played Flying Officer 'Flash' Gordon in the LWT mini-series Piece of Cake. He is also the lead in the BBC series The Inspector Lynley Mysteries, based on the novels by Elizabeth George. Nathaniel Parker has an extensive list of audio books to his credit, ranging from the classics of Charles Dickens and Thomas Hardy to more modern writings and children's books.

Another thrilling Story of Bunburry Folks
Wieder eine spannende und unterhaltsame Geschichte rund um die besonderen Charaktere in un um Bunburry, und congenial gelesen von Nathaniel Parker.

The author underestimates her readers
I still like to listen to the books, because, well, they are cosy and while I thought at the beginning, they are only good because of Nathaniel Parker, I now have to say I tried all books Nathaniel Parker has narrated, but here he is at his best.
BUT I believe Helena Marchmont /Olga Wojtas could write much better than she does. she repeats jokes, phrases ( I believe the phrase "with a confidence (assurance/optimism) he/she.. didn't feel with all its variations appears at least once in every book). Habits, phrases, jokes, opinions that are funny the first time lose their charme if you hear them more than twice (tea is very dry on it's own, carlottas vegan muck, Oscar Wilde, the many fears of Alfie (Cows, parks, driving...) etc). It feels like the author has introduced all her ideas in the first book and is now living from it.
I am sure, she could come up with fresh ideas, but maybe she feels, that it's not worth the effort because people won't notice.
I feel, it's a shame. The books could be really fun, now they are just a passtime I would not tell anybody about.

Love the Bunburry Stories
Well worth a „hear“ on a leisurely evening with some knitting, crocheting or other crafts with a glass of wine !
