melodramatic and unintelligent
The characters are ok to good, though I don't like how the story hops from character to character.
I have 2 main problems with the story and after 2 books tolerating it I have no tolerance left for it, so this is the end of this series for me.
1. The ppl in this series are annoyingly dense, their plans make no sense, for example the antagonist wants to take over the world from the shadows of the criminal underground by giving ppl drugs, that's insane and won't ever work if you aren't already very high up in the government, any rational person can see that from a mile away.
Or another example, how can anybody who has even the slightest bit of knowledge about humans and the internet not deduce wich problems would crop up if you put a real grimoire on the open market?
Or another example, it makes absolutely no sense why the protagonist isn't learning shield and invisibility spells after she realised that the gangs are trying to lure her into a trap, also why in hell not wear body armor?!
2. The protagonist thinks for some inane reason that she can't talk about what she can do even though it's ovious that she needs help.
This horrible cliché about protecting someone by not letting them know the truth never works out and any intelligent person can deduce that before even trying. All this melodramatic crap about the protagonists boyfriend is just that, it's crap because it makes no sense to keep him out of the loop instead of asking for his help in a way that won't get him killed.
It's really annoying me since the author has a whole series about another witch and that series is one of the best examples against this cliché.
