Great Dark Story

This is a great dark story with cool sound effects. The narrative is told by the female MC and the direct speech of the men are done by the male narrator. There are also some sound effects like when someone speaks over the phone. I greatly enjoyed that.

For my personal taste, the story is a bit too dark but that will neither influence my rating nor stop me from continuing with book 2, Liar. I hate cliffhangers. Definitely not good at putting your mind at rest. So book 2 it is.

As to.the storyline, Tate James is a master story spinner, her narrative make the characters come to life and she has you sitting at the edge of your seat or, in my case, freeze over the laundry basket or whatever I was doing listening. The one thing I cannot relate to is the female MC, Madison Kate's attraction to three men she believes have wrecked her life, especially the oldest and biggest, Archer, who is really mean and insulting half of the time. That works for me like an ice bucket poured over my head but I suppose there are women who find bullies attractive, only because they look handsome and are full of themselves. Personal preferences aside, though, the author has managed to paint these characters so vividly that I could see all the action in front of my inner eyes. And if you're not taken aback by the mental and emotional challenges between the characters, the intimate scenes are definitely super hot.

Therefore, this book gets a full five stars from me in all categories and if you love the dark and bully trope, mixed with angsty mystery, this book will totally be for you.
