Honestly I was quite anxious to read this book. Good reviews and five star ratings make me uneasy and I feel like sometimes readers can be blinded because of their love for an author.

Thankfully my fears were groundless. I know this book is very long but after I finished it I can really say that every page was worth it. The story itself is now so complex with so many characters and so many motives, that you have to have enough time with each party.

This book is the one that lets the female characters in this book shine. I cannot even tell you which one is my favorite because I don’t have one. No matter if it is Aelin or Lysandra, Manon or Nesryn. The women in this book kick ass and are the main reason why I enjoyed it the way I did.

I cannot wait for the next book but I’m also quite torn about the fact that there are in fact two more books. Torn because I feel like it would take one book to finish the story but I guess we will be left hanging with a cliffhanger in the next book to drag the story out. I do hope that I'm wrong with this assumption.

PS: Still not a Rowan fan.

I never thought it would be possible to keep suspense up for so long, but this series seems to get better and better with every volume. I enjoyed every second of it.

I don't know where Sarah J. Maas takes her ideas from. I love the whole series - from the first book to the last one. There are so many different plots / subplots, interesting and unusual characters, original settings, .... I LOVE IT.

I usually only listen to audiobooks in my car. Found myself this weekend lying on the couch listening to Queen of Shadows for hours and hours, and then going to the store with headphones on so I could continue to listen.
Often in book series, the first book is great but then the next ones just don't cut it. like they're merely in existence to bring the author easy money because people buy the books based on how popular the first one was.
This series is not like that. In fact I find myself liking every consecutive book better than the one before. The world Maas built, how it expands with every book, and her skill in making you relate to the characters...perhaps even those that are or should be evil (Blackbeaks anyone?!) is such a pleasure to immerse yourself into.
I already downloaded the next book and will start listening to it as soon as I complete this review.

I really enjoyed reading this adventure-filled book. Aelin returns to Rifthold, and seeks revenge on her former employer, Arobynn Hamel. This book is written in different perspectives (mostly Elide and Manon in Morath, Aelin, Chaol, Dorian, Aedion, Lysandra, Rowan in Rifthold).

4. book in the Throne of Glass series
