A deep look into the human psyche packed in an absolutely amazing plot
This book manages to properly talk about so many things that adress the human psyche and the illnesses thatbcan inhabit it, without cutting off corners in it's story at all.
An absolute must listen/read

Really exceptional
I don't usually write reviews because I often don't find the right words or think that my personal opinion isn't really helpful. But just giving this audio book 5/5 stars isn't enough, so I'm making an exception.
I can't remember the last time I was so immersed in a story and since I'm still processing it, it's save to say that I got more then 'just' 23h and 49 minutes out of it (especially since I had to press pause from time to time because some parts were overwhelming (meant as a praise/compliment)). I'm eagerly awaiting the next (adio)books.
It's rare that I really love all aspects of a(n) (audio)book (like the world building, the characters, the writing style, the narrator, the pacing...), but I can't think of anything that didn't feel just right the way it is.
Sadly, this also means the portrayal of humanity (especially the 'dark sides of humanity' as the summary puts it) feels just right, which is the only thing I hated (but again: meant as a praise/compliment) but that isn't the author's fault.
I wholeheartedly recommend the audio book (if the issues addressed in the synopsis are okay with you).
TLTR: If I could only listen to one audio book for the rest of my life, it would be this one.

Very amateurish execution
Poor character work and a rather amateurish execution of what seemed like an interesting idea. Bad pacing, extreme length not justified by the amount of story, insta-love (twice by the same character within a very short amount of time), clunky dialogues, inconsistent voice. Characters are unqualified for the job they were selected for, but what I found the most bothersome was the ever-present phenomenon of characters suddenly remembering super important and convenient pieces of information, or withholding and mentioning them with no urgency later despite their mission to uncover the truth of the mystery they were hired to investigate. This book would require a lot of editing. It reads like a draft in its current form.
