In the distant past, a time of magic and swordplay, there lived Harold, the mightiest lich of all, a master of arcane sciences, and a challenger of gods. No more swords and sorcery, but a universe buzzing with cultivation, celestial sects, and far too many pretentious dialogues about the path to godhood.
Harold is no naïve cultivator. He's an ancient lich with a single ambition: to slide back into his uninterrupted eternal slumber. But the cacophony of quarreling sects and smug martial artists seems determined to keep him awake.
Undeterred, the sleep-deprived overlord is ready to confront this brave new world. After all, no aspiring deity, no grandiose sect, and certainly no self-righteous martial artist is going to rob him of his beauty sleep.

Amazing
Love the energy of the narrators. Made me realize how used I've gotten to drab matter of fact narration in my audiobooks

Curious Mix of Cultures
The plot was solid and the narration a work of art, but the setting could have used a little more research. It took me a good minute to figure out why the Gods were "commis" - I initially interpreted this to mean communist, until I realized they were talking about kami, the Japanese word for deity.
Given that this took place on a continent of cultivators with names like Ruo Lan and Fen Feng, that's a bit curious. I don't expect people to pronounce these names correctly - if someone pronouncing the a in lan as they would the a in age upsets you, this audiobook is not for you - but I would expect the author to know the difference between Japanese and Chinese. Really, he could just call them deities, there is no reason to use the word "kamis".
Additionally, be warned that the protagonist has a great distaste for cultivators, and they act like idiots throughout the book, so perhaps he is right. Those people lack depth. As does "cultivation". The picture this book paints is more akin to a child's scraggly 2D scribbles than to the intricate system that is Daoist cultivation.
Fortunately, I wasn't expecting it to. It's clearly a parody, a childish one, but a parody nonetheless.
All criticisms aside, I think I will likely listen to the next book some day. The plot is decent enough to keep you entertained and awake. Perfect for a long drive or wake.

Lovely cooky recipe at the end
Sadly, that recipe wasn't translated into necro-units or SI-units - or anything relevant - Just the country with the imperial system still uses Fahrenheit afaik :(
Otherwise, brilliantly told book in Ravensdaggers usual quality - and there is character growth :)

Fantastic first book
I gotta say this first entry of the Dead Tired Series is absolutely fantastic. JTJ and the whole SBT cast outdid themselves with their performance. So anyone who is interested in a good and funny story, where the protagonist is overpowered from the beginning, should give it a try. Can’t wait for the second entry :)

Interessantes Konzept
Interessantes Konzept für ein LitRPG das genauso gut geschrieben wurde. Die puns sind etwas viel aber Sounbooth Theater macht das alles trotzdem großartig zu hören.

Wunderbar
Die Leute vom Sound Booth Theater waren wie immer herrlich und haben einer ausgesprochen gelungenen Geschichte noch mehr tiefe gegeben.
Ravensdagger hat sich wieder etwas feines ausgedacht und zu Papier gebracht.
Für die, welche die Hörbücher bevorzugen, freut euch schon jetzt auf den nächsten Teil.

Für Freunde skurriler Typen
Diese Geschichte und die Charaktere sind meiner Meinung nach sehr unterhaltsam!
Der Anfang zieht sich durch einen einführenden Monolog etwas in die Länge, aber dann wird es für Freunde des Skurrilen und des schwarzen Humors sehr unterhaltsam. Die Charaktere sind faszinierend und toll gesprochen! Der Sprecher des Hauptcharakter/Erzählers legt sich mächtig ins Zeug und liefert mit seinen Kollegen/innen eine klasse Leistung ab!
Mein absoluter Favorit ist aber nicht die Hauptfigur, sondern dessen Butler/Hausmädchen, der sehr geschmeidig alle Probleme angeht und auch schon mal seinen 'Dienstherren' leicht zur Verzweiflung treibt.
Wortspiele werden häufig eingesetzt und sollte mal eine deutsche Übersetzung des Buches vorliegen, bin ich gespannt wie die dann umgesetzt wurden...
Man sollte auf jeden Fall das Hörbuch wirklich bis zum Schluss anhören! Da gibt es dann noch eine kleine Kurzgeschichte, die nicht nur für backbegeisterte Zuhörer interessant ist.

Excellent Story but I decrease to 3 Stars for annoying Trans lessons
Great story but if they continue with the trans bs then I am going to quit. I desire entertainment not ideology lessons.
