Davina Porter does a great job. Loved to learn english listening to her and how she can vary her voice and accent. Story ist also great, especially of course for real fans of the Outlander books and series.

Wie immer ist Davina Porter grandios.
Mehr braucht man gar nicht zu sagen außer vielleicht: Kaufen,Kaufen, Kaufen.
Der Preis ist hoch aber es lohnt sich.

Was hat Ihnen das Hörerlebnis von The Fiery Cross besonders unterhaltsam gemacht?

ich muß mich erst reinhören ins englische, da ich etwas eingerostet bin,
aber die deutschen Teile 4-7 sind ja leider gekürzt und Teil 5 gibt es hier gar nicht....
Schade schade
na ja dann versuche ich es mal......die Sprecherin hat eine angenehme, ausdrucksvolle Stimme, die Geschichte ist bekanntermaßen spannend( Buch)
und dieser schottische Akzent kommt unglaublich gut (geht in deutsch natürlich nicht :) )
also, wer sich mal wieder üben möchte,es lohnt sich

Was wäre für andere Hörer sonst noch hilfreich zu wissen, um das Hörbuch richtig einschätzen zu können?

ich habe die deutschen Hörbücher nebenbei gehört, bei den englischen muß ich deutlich besser zuhören

Besonders gut: sprachliche Umsetzung der verschiedenen Sprecher und der verschiedenen Akzente/Sprachen

Einziger Minuspunkt: die Zeitreise/supernatural happenings

I love the Outlander books, and this is no exception: the story is well-written, though probably one of Diana Gabaldon's less factual and more sentimental books in the series. There are lots of metaphors she systematically uses here that she did not in previous books, especially when she is describing sensations or feelings. Yet, the plot line is clear and very well written, and I enjoyed it tremendously. I also typically enjoy Davina Porter's reading (I've also listened to her reading Anne Perry books). She also has a knack for the pronunciation of Scots English -- though apart from Jamie's and Roger's Scots English, she only does do 1-2 more accents. I have only two things that bother me in her reading of this particular book: 1) sometimes she puts too much emotion in her voice, especially when I think it would be more effective to make that voice completely emotionless and flat (one example -- SPOILER -- is when she is talking to Roget after his mishap and he wants to try talking some later, leading her to leave the room. Roger's torment here is quiet and it's better served by an emptiness in the voice, rather than a strangled emotion) 2) her pronunciation of many of the foreign languages is (I'm sorry to say) quite terrible. I don't really understand, nor speak Gallic, so I can't judge any of that; however, her German is hard to understand even for a person who has lived for many years in Germany and speaks that language fluently (thus being able to guess many of the words). Same for the French. I wouldn't mind it quite so much if it did not make up quite a lot of the book. Still, an overall excellent performance and a lovely book. I recommend it for all fans of historical fiction.

Great story with wonderful twists & turnsI had already forgotten after reading the books. Wanted to listen to all of them again. - Will definitely go on listening! It’s really „braw“ to read all the characters so well & with such intensity! Great, Davina Porter!!! Hope to read the coming up book very soon! And will listen to that too! 😎 Can‘t wait!
