Inhaltsangabe

Hi - My name is Nick Vulich. I’ve spent over 15 years as a retail manager, and have personally hired close to five hundred employees. Clerks, managers, warehouse workers, you name it, I’ve interviewed, and hired them.

Let me tell you, I’ve seen, and heard some crazy stories.

One girl carefully explained how she needed weekends off to visit her boyfriend in prison. He’d just killed someone; she apparently got off on a technicality. I’ve had my share of people coming in smelling like a marijuana factory, and watched them get up and walk out when I mentioned our drug testing program. And, of course, there are always the kids who come in wearing “F**k You!” or “Sh*t happens” t-shirts. But, hey, it matched their sandals and torn jeans. Nice outfit. Totally wrong place for it.

To be fair, I’ve also hired a lot of great people. One of these was a foreigner I met in Maryland. We were getting ready to close up shop, before a major hurricane came in. Trees were already down all over; streets flooded. None of it seemed to bother him at all. He handed me his resume, and explained why he was the best man for the job. Heck, he had my attention just by walking in on a day like that. Needless to say I had him on a plane a few days later to interview with the big wigs for a management position.

There was also the girl who walked in the store, stopped to straighten the wrinkled carpet, and picked up a wrapper and threw it away. By doing those two things, she outgunned several of my seasoned workers.

I probably don’t have to tell you, both of these people got the job. Little things, big results.

If you haven't already discovered it this isn't your father's job search. Jobs have changed drastically over the last twenty years, and so has the method used for finding them. If you haven't updated your job search arsenal, you're going to be fighting a losing battle.

This book introduces you to the Seven Tools every job seeker needs to find a job in today's troubled economy.
