From New York Times best-selling author Hannah Howell, a classic love story of a Scottish hero too wild to be tamed and the woman he's destined to set free....

Pleasance Dunstan is used to silently bearing the cruelties put upon her by her thoughtless family. But nothing can prepare her for the greatest indignity of all: being sold into servitude to a man as wild as Tearlach O'Duine. His untamed ways are whispered of throughout town, and he has set his sights on Pleasance to be more than his servant. He will have her in his bed.

Pleasance could escape this fate with a word, but her fierce pride keeps her silent. Instead, she follows her new master to the rough lands where he has made a home and finds a world beyond any she has ever known - a world of desire. For though he is her captor, only Tearlach can show her how freeing true passion can be...and while her servitude to him will one day end, nothing can stop the binding of their hearts....

Contains mature themes.

i could not take it anymore. both MC were horrible. the male MC was such an asshole. the way he Treated the heroine was appauling. he caused her desolate Situation out of sheer pettiness because she rejected him after a 2 week courtship, he has her persecuted as a thief and then bought her Indenture for her to Serve him. and then took advantage of her sexually once he had her in his home all the while treating her like shit. even when she -for once- set boundaries he walked all over them by using her body against her. the female MC was no better: a spineless, weak, stupid, stupid character with an invitation to anyone to walk all over her. for instance there has been already an attempt of rape once she was alone and allthough she was told there dwells a known mad rapist in the forrest she attepmts to run away alone without any Protection or Preparation through the Woods, where of course she gets almost raped again. I hated every second of this book I waited for a turning point but after 50% i could not bear it anymore. I am so mad espaecially bc hannah howell wrote one of the cooles heroines in an other book, so I did not expect such a sad excuse of a heroine in this one. keep away!

dnf - this book made me so angry
